Moving knobs and sliders jump to min/max values

Post by roby » Tue Mar 08, 2016 12:17 am

Hello there,

I sent support an email but I want to bring this up in here to see anyone else is suffering from this.

I recently installed Live 9.6 on a new laptop. Now every time I move a knob, slider, automation point, envelope point on a native Live instrument (Analog, Operator, etc.), MIDI keyboard in clip view, or audio clip waveform view, the widget jumps to the minimum or maximum value depending on the direction I move the widget. For example, for a volume slider at 0.0 db, if I move the slider down slowly and at a very small increment to set it to -1.0 db, the slider jumps down to -inf db. Bring the slide up makes a jump to a higher value close to 0.0 db or above. I cannot set the slider to anything in between no matter how slowly I move it. This happens with the track pad and an external mouse. It does not happen to third party VST plugins, Max for Live devices, Live's browser scroll bars, nor when resizing Live's panels, like the browser, Arrange or Sessions view, Clip view (the parent panel for clip view that is, zooming in or out waveforms in audio clips or MIDI note clip and keyboard does have this bad behavior). So this seems to only happen with Live's native widgets.

I can confirm that this behavior also does not happen on other application like internet browsers, other audio applications, you name it.

Anyone experiencing something similar??

One common cause of this is Windows zoom. It could be other things, but that's one of the most popular causes. You should be able to do a search with Ableton Windows zoom and find something.

Otherwise if you're using a touch screen or certain mouse/pens, it 'could' happen, but that would have a different fix.

A cool! That did it. I was searching the help page with the wrong search query.

Thanks!
