I have been spending this year figuring out how to get general midi compatibility and the best options for utilizing bank selection and program change messages which live supports to a degree.
After making my own system in a M4L patch I found Blue cats patchwork.

While this is a wonderful vst the only way to enable program changes and not experience crashing is through having the plugin windows open. I ran into similar issues when building my own.
If the capability to midi or key map the Wrench icon for the plugin edit window was possible it would greatly improve my Midi WorkFlow and make me/ a lot of other people super happy!
I have made Komplete 10 Ultimate GM compatible patches (all 128) through kontakt, and working on FM8, Reaktor, and other versions.
I hope this feature or something to this effect is a simple enough one to integrate.
