quick questions what's the point of exporting sends? why not just export the the individual tracks themselves and do your sends mix and masters on pro-tools
i'm in the process of exporting my current project for the engineer to mix and master, is there any point in giving him my sends too instead of him just mixing the individual tracks themselves?
point of exporting sends?
Re: point of exporting sends?
... you should ask your mix engineer, not us.Nigma wrote:quick questions ...
And what about insert effects? Does he want them on or does he prefer to recreate ANY effects with his means on the basis of raw naked instrumental and vocal tracks?
He will definitely need your exported master with everything on it as a reference of where you want to go, but what else he wants he needs to tell you.
Having the return tracks, a list of effects an which tracks are sent there would be a point of reference too.
Re: point of exporting sends?
The only case I could think of is if you are fully committed to the send effect and don't think the engineer would be able to easily recreate the effect in the mix.
Usually though most engineers just want the dry unprocessed tracks.

Re: point of exporting sends?
include them so he/she can have some sense of what you were working with.
they can either disregard completely or use some fancy expensive version of the same thing.
Personally I think my send effects are at least 70% of my song !
