Hey all,
I just recently put out a new beat tape, which is a collection of some of my stronger beats i've produced so far this year. They can be found out bropherywc.bandcamp.com/album/year-one
A few trap beats on there, but most of it are lo-fi 90's style hip hop.
Just looking for some notes on what I could be doing to improve the mix as well as tips for performing these beats live on ableton instead of having to shell money on an SP404 (though one day i'm determined to own one!)
check out my new Beat tape and give me some critique!
Re: check out my new Beat tape and give me some critique!
3am is good. kicks are too high in the mix, pushing them back a touch in the mix and bring the rest up a tad.
Dont Go is better in terms of mixing. All the sounds sit right. This would work well with a Gospel choir sample if you have one.
Badbreth suffers from the same as 3am. Bass end is too tubby. Its got some nice vibes though
Helix is super nice.

Dude thanks for the critiques. I'm still getting used to mixing and mastering so this is super helpful.downfader wrote:3am is good. kicks are too high in the mix, pushing them back a touch in the mix and bring the rest up a tad.
