Audio File Size Is Too Big...
Audio File Size Is Too Big...
Hi all,
Basically i just rendered a track made with Serum VST in Live... but the file size is 55MB.
Other tracks are about 5-7MB, so obviously something is wrong here.
I have converted the track to MP3 320KBPS, but it is still 12MB... which is still double the usual size.
What am i doing wrong here please? How can i make the file size like other tracks?
Thanks in adv

What settings did you use when you rendered?

Is the 55MB file and the 5-7MB files you are comparing the same format? Are they all WAV or AIFF files?
If yes, then as Tarekith mentioned, I would focus on the render setting you are using to create the "55MB" file.
Is the time length of this rendered audio the same as the others that are 5-7MB? If not, then make sure to select the correct length region in your timeline you want to render before going into the render menu.
If the files are the same length, then what bit depth settings (16, 24, 32) and what sample rate (44.1 khz, 48, 96, etc) are you rendering the 55MB file with? How about the other 5-7MB ones? what properties do they have vs the 55MB file?
As for 55MB WAV/AIFF to 320 kbps MP3 conversion, 12MB is the correct size for 16bit/44.1khz.

Re: Audio File Size Is Too Big...
This is the render settings. No different than I have ever rendered at before!
The track is 5 minutes long approx. It is no longer than normal.
It says 55MB when rendered as a WAV. Then 12MB when I convert it to MP3.
But I just want it to render as usual WAV, but to be the same MB as other tracks.
55MB is WAY bigger than any others in my collection.

Any ideas anyone?

Re: Audio File Size Is Too Big...
Are the other tracks in your collection MP3s? A wav file will always be bigger than an MP3 of the same length. IF you need a smaller MP3, you could convert it with a lower bitrate like 192kbps.

Re: Audio File Size Is Too Big...
So its normal to have tracks that are 55MBs?
I thought a normal file size for WAV was about 8MB?

Re: Audio File Size Is Too Big...
No, the average size of a 16bit wav file is 10MB per minute.

Yeah, that's a completely normal file size for PCM encoded audio (assuming it's 44.1/16).
