Hi guys,
I'm hoping you can help, I run Ableton 9 on my new iMac with sound coming through a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 and as soon as I open Ableton my speakers start to quietly hum, the hymn increases as I turn up the volume on my sound card. I always thought that it was simply a ground loop and so finally got round to buying a hum destroyer but it's had zero effect. In fact when I watched a recent ground loop demo it seems that ground loops aren't effected by volume but my problem is.
Can anyone think what this may be? It seems odd that the sound only starts when I start Ableton, it doesn't happen when my computer is just sitting on desktop with no apps loaded
My speakers start to hum and soon as Ableton loads

Re: My speakers start to hum and soon as Ableton loads
Hey mate!
I had something similar happen the other day. Basically the audio in from my sound card was causing the problem.
Try this:
[*]Boot up Ableton.
[*]Mute every track in Ableton (I think 3 or 4 load up by default) including the returns.
[*]Still a hum?
If nope, then start unmuting tracks and seeing which one is responsible. My hum was caused by the "ext in" setting in the dropdown on the individual track. Try changing that to none. Worked for me.

When I had this problem I had a analogue emulating tape plug-in with hiss and all active in my Template.AudioBoi wrote:Hi guys,

Ha! I forgot I've had that, too. I think I had an exciter or a return channel and it was emulating mains hum.Stromkraft wrote:When I had this problem I had a analogue emulating tape plug-in with hiss and all active in my Template.AudioBoi wrote:Hi guys,
