Turn Chain Select into Signal Router

Post by mikestjean » Sat Jan 14, 2017 3:20 am

Hopefully there is already a solution to this:

One aspect of my live setup, is having multiple synths (etc) on a single track, and traditionally I might step through them with the Chain Selector.

Instead though, I want to layer them in different combinations: Piano / Strings / Bass / Piano + Strings / Piano + Bass

Currently, I am using the Group Macros to turn each instrument on/off, and Clip Envelopes to dictate which Macros are On/Off for any given Scene, so I can have up to 8 instruments and combinations therein. I am finding this however to be less-than-ideal, as when I add a new instrument to the Group, I have to go back to all my previous Clips and add this new Envelop -> Macro = Off, otherwise the new instrument will stay on when I switch to older Scenes. Furthermore, I may want to have other elements of a Group controlled by a Macro, and therefore I have the ability to Macro-control less and less instruments with every other element that I want to control by a Macro.

In summation, I think it would be a powerful tool to be able to have Chain Routing, rather than Chain Ranges. So instead of Piano being included in Chain 1-3, and Bass in Chain 2-4 (with other instrument chains in there as well), Piano might be in Chains 1 & 3, but not two, etc.

Thoughts?
