Recording Rocktron Banshee w Sub Phatty in Ableton?

Hey all. Highly interested in a talk box for use with my Moog Sub Phatty and have a couple questions regarding set up.

As of now when using my sub Phatty or any external inst., I just simply plug in a 1/4 Mogam cable into my interface and record in Ableton. I am very confused as to how to record with a talk box such as the Rocktron Banshee 1 or 2.

I see a lot of people saying you need a Mic or even a separate amp. Is it not possible to simply add the Banshee to the chain and record into Ableton via the audio interface? And yea I'm aware of how the sound is made so to speak with the tube, but I'm just confused about it the set up regarding RECORDING in particular..
