Problem after drag-and-dropping MIDI clips into project

Post by djdizzy216 » Sat Feb 18, 2017 7:43 am

I like to drag MIDI clips into Ableton to learn the notes and learn to play the songs. But whenever I drag a MIDI clip to a project, Ableton starts making me double-click for things that are only single-click. For example I have to double-click and hold the Beat Time Ruler to zoom, instead of just click and hold to zoom. I have to double-click everything to highlight it, rather than it being a single-click to highlight. So there are alot of tasks I just can't do at all because of this. This double-click problem only happens when after I drag a MIDI clip to a project.

I'm using Ableton Live 9.5 on Mac OS X, I recently switched from Windows to Mac and I never had this problem with Ableton for Windows. I can't find anyone else posting about the same problem and can't figure out why it's doing this. The only way I can get it to go back to normal after dragging a MIDI clip is to ditch the project altogether and start a new project, then it goes back to normal with single-clicking. This problem doesn't happen with every MIDI file but it happens with most. It's like there's something about certain MIDI clips that's causing this.

this is the lounge not help, but ... that said. also i only work on a mac. it's gotta be the mac and not ableton. mac has a lot of settings the user can enable in their preferences concerning the mac. I would start there. i think it's how the OS maps to the hardware, probably not the software. ableton is just getting the after effect. Have you seen this in other software, not necessarily midi-playing?

Try contacting [email protected], I'm sure they can help look into it for you if you send them the set and the midi file you're seeing this with.

If you drag your midi files into user library first you should be able to drop them into your project with no problem.
