there are no rewire channels to activate in cubase sx.

i start cubase sx first, than live 2 - no channels to switch on/off in menu devices. what's wrong with my setup?

Hello,

Cubase SX cannot be ReWired to Live on a Mac because Live can't act as a
ReWire slave under OS X. Except for Live, Cubase SX currently is the only ReWire master app under OS X; Logic does not support ReWire under OS X at all (and we don't know if it ever will).

We will implement the ReWire slave functionality for OS X soonest possible; but it won't be in Live 2 though. Sorry!

yeah logic is only going to support coreaudio's 'rewire-esque' api. at least w/o some sort of 3rd party wrapper, which would be nasty. rewire w/ cubase as master live as slave is broken on sx1.05/live2.01 too. hopefully its fixed. or hopefully steinberg adds a realtime stretch/shift algo to cubase so i have no reason to run live at all ;)

sorry, screwed up that post. meant to say it is buggy (on xp) not broken. the bugs are relating to the file not loading the stored tempo/bpm getting stuck or reset to 130 bpm and all the rewire chan assignments reverting back to 1/2. also start/stop playback only seem to work from the master app.

No Rewire slave mode for Live under OS X?

Post by hughster » Tue Jan 21, 2003 9:31 am

well, that seems to answer my query pretty definitively. I must admit, I'm slightly p*ssed off by this - I had assumed that Live 2 could do its stuff under X properly. Well, it's nice to have a choice between Cubase and Live, but i must admit I would prefer them both together...

To be fair it does mention the OS X ReWire issue in the Live manual. Though it would be nice to see it mentioned somewhere on the website so people cn know about it before they decide to buy...

Cubase sx on mac os x

Post by John Daminato » Wed Jan 22, 2003 12:00 am

How do u like cubase sx on the mac? Ive been a cubase user for like 4-5 years on the pc. Then my partner was like get a mac all the pro's use them. So i got one with cubase 5.01 os 9.2, needless to say not happy. I want SX but afraid it's gonna once again slw me down, plus i have a pulsar 1 card, this seems to cause many problems on mac os, and pulsar basically said they won't write the code for os X. Now you say there is rewire issues...hmmm.

I've not had time to use SX that much, but it seems nicely thought out and pretty solid so far. Hampered of course by lack of 3rd party plugins at the moment.
What didn't you like about Cubase 5? Seemed pretty good to me.
