Shift Notes Within a Clip
Feature Suggestion
Holding down modifier key(s) and dragging selected notes within a clip would shift them so that the first or last notes in the clup re-appear on the other edge instead of being moved out of the clip.
This shift mechanism could be further expanded upon by means of shifting Audio and Automation as well. And maybe it shouldn't be tied to just clips, but loop boundaries, or even timeline selections as well?
Use case
You hit record and sometimes happen to begin a music phrase in the middle of a fixed-length clip.
Rationale
- 1.) Even though you can set the clip's start marker where you want, it looks confusing in many ways, that the clip don't start at the very beginning.
2.) With this feature working on selected notes, there's added compositional value being able to drag around (shift) just those notes.
3.) This Shifting functionality can be expanded in a broader sense, not just dealing with Notes, but other events as well. Such as automation.
To expand on this further, I’d like to also propose being able to Shift Notes Within a Loop … as well as apply this shift mechanism to automation, and audio, and perhaps other stuff as well.
... Here's a video demonstration.

I agree. As this also is what is happening when you record into a looping clip — which is what I think you're saying — to be able to get the same effect when editing is only natural.
Make some music!
