Plugin/Automation Issue

So whenever my Ableton crashes when I use a plugin the automation line goes grey. Once it goes grey I can no longer automate that parameter. I used to be able to click that little left arrow on the top of my screen that is in the orange box and it enabled everything. Now when I check it the orange won't go away and I can no longer change that parameter in my channel. Only option is to delete the plugin and re-do the automation line that I drew. This becomes pretty tedious because the lines I draw take some time. So annoying and just started happening I want to say in the past month.
