how to live record an audio channel on top of another channe

Post by amook11 » Sat Jan 20, 2018 7:11 pm

hi
I use ableton to record my external instruments as audio. I recorded an audio track(drums). now I want to record new audio channel (pad/chords) live over the drum track .(playing live while iam hearing the other channel) but no matter what i do when I press record it records the drum track aswell on the new the auido channel (which suppose to record only pads). so on play back i have two audio channel playing same thing ! i think it should be straight forward fix but beacuse i havent use ableton for this purpose before I dont know what i need to do on setting. so aplogize if my question is too basic and appreciate any help
thanks

Okay so first make sure only the track that you want to record the pads on is armed.

Check the input of the pads track, are you playing drums from a sampler/sequencer that is on the same input as your pads from your sound card?

Once you've recorded your drums you can disable the drums track input.

Hope this is helpful.
