'A serious system error' message on open - v4.1.4

Post by atmofunk » Mon Jul 11, 2005 9:25 am

this is frustrating..

I have this .als file i've been working on and all of a sudden whenever i try to open it up, Live gives me this serious system error message, telling me to resave under a new name. Here's what's happening:

1) open up set
2) Live loads.. and loads.. and loads
3) message appears

now, If I do a ctrl-alt-del and check the memory usage of Live, it's at 600MB (it should be there since i put all my clips in RAM). this tells me that everything is loaded as it should be.

If i try closing Live down, it pops up another message asking if i want to remove unused sample references frommy set's folder -- also common, and SHOULD be happening.

This *also* tells me that my set must be loaded in some shape or form, but for some reason somehting inside is screwing it up! ...aggravating as hell, as I've spent the entire weekend on this track and now i can't even open the damn thing :(

help!!!

OK I found a solution on these forums. -- deleting the preferences.cfg inside:

C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Ableton\Live 4.1.4\Preferences

got rid of the issue - had to reconfigure everything but that's whatever.

:) w00t!
