How to have my DrumRack tracks in Arrangement view - Live 10

Post by mellturbo » Sun Apr 08, 2018 2:39 pm

Hi there!

I checked a lot before asking but ... Do I have to go back in the Session view each time I want to touch the volume or the pan of one of my DrumRack pads. My tracks don't appear in Arragement view, only the group and it's frustrating. Is there a way to have them like in Live 9?
I've clicked on the little arrow like before and nothing happens, it just folds and unfolds the track.
Thanks a lot :)

This MAY be related to an issue with group tracks, see: Ableton Forum • View topic - Live 10 - Small Arrow Group Collapse, so a fix MAY be underway.

In what way do you want to touch volume or pan? Track overall or automations?

For automations you'd need to enter automation mode, and activate  EACH  [chain name] | Mixer > Chain Volume/Chain Panorama.

For track overall you can work around by accesing the cain list in the drumrack's device view.

Thanks a lot for your answer.
It helps!
So it's an issue and I hope Ableton is gonna fix that soon.

I would like to be able to mix in the arrangement view without going back and forth in Session View. And I find annoying also if I have to go in the chain of my drumrack to adjust a pan or volume. For this purpose I kind of regret Live 9! (Just for this one :)

Let's wait and see...
Thank you

You mention "group", but a drum rack is not a group track. So which of those have you built? Did you import this rack from Live 9? Or did you create it in a Live 10 unique way?

If this indeed a drum rack, then those "tracks" are not tracks, those are chains/pads. Unless you have extracted those, which is how I do this, but I also keep the original rack. This would explain why you have to go to Session to make adjustments in the drum rack mixer. Generally you adjust pan/levels with this rack mixer, not the main Live mixer. It works pretty much as a sub mixer to the main one, as is typical of racks in Live.

Like here where you see one of my drum racks in Arrangement view:

But this is so also in Live 9, so I have no clue to understand what you mean with your question "Is there a way to have them like in Live 9?". How do you mean?

Yes, another monitor is reaaly helpful.

And my bad, Stromkraft, it wasn't possible in Live 9 to see all the "tracks" (I should say pads)in the arrangement view and yes it's a mistake to use the word "group"... sorry

No sweat. It was just confusing for me, is all. I'm sure many others just understood right away what you meant.
