fading midi track HELP

Post by Cascadea » Mon Jul 02, 2018 11:15 pm

I'm trying to fade in the first midi track of the song but i can't seem to get automation to turn on, i drag and drop the auto filter on the midi track i have the line and the two dots highlighted in the top middle tool bar but the automation line doesn't show up at all i don't even see auto filter on the right side below the track i don't want it to affect the entire midi track i just want it to affect a part of it and raise in volume over time i've been trying to figure out what people are doing that i'm not but i can't see it. Can anyone help?

Try hitting "A" to display the automation lanes.

Which is because the "Computer MIDI Keyboard" is active. Inactivate it with the "m" key or in the GUI, which is the second button of the top right section, just next to the "Draw Mode Switch".
Make some music!

I can't find any information either on how to fade midi clips in Ableton. Could someone mention what tool I have to use so i can read up on it?

By accident found it. Automation mode -> Device chooser (choose the correct device) -> Automation control chooser (choose Volume). There you go, you can now automate the volume of a clip. For added bonus hold ALT when over the red line (so that it turns blue) and move the mouse, you can manipulate the line.
