Clyphx Pro, can one do punch in punch out style looping?

Post by McAnix » Tue Jul 10, 2018 9:28 am

Basically like looping in virtual dj software. Specifically in session view on audio clips.

If one can't do punch in punch out looping I suppose you would have to preset the loop size?

Thanks.

You should already be able to do this with standard mapping in Live.

In Clip View for loop settings there are ‘set’ buttons. Map those and you should be able to use them on a selected clip. The quantization for how precise or sensitive it is to timing is based on the Global Quantization.

The tricky part is that you have to SELECT a clip in order to do these functions. If you play a different clip, then that different clip might become ‘selected’. One mapping technique for selecting the ‘currently playing clip on a channel’ is to midi map the little progress bar / pie chart looking thing on the channel. Once mapped, you’d tap the select-track, then trigger the Set buttons. Your clip should now loop. To turn Loop off, select the clip and then tap the Loop button in clip properties (can also be mapped).

Hi yur2die4,

So that works great, didn't even know about this but I have follow actions set up and after let's say 16 bars are played, looped or not the follow action is executed, I want to be able to loop for as long as I want and then when I kill the loop the follow action picks up where it left off, is this at all possible?

Thanks.

In that case you can achieve this with clyphx yes. You can set x-cues in the arrangement, loop a section, and then use clyphx to trigger the looped section to move to the next x-cue. The playhead will now continue through the arrangement until it arrives at the next looped section where it will loop until it gets a bash to move to the next x-cue.

Alternatively there is likely a way to do this is session view when working with follow actions. X-clips are very versatile. I just don't know off the top of my head how to do it because though I use both session and arrangement views in my sets, all the looping control is done in the arrangement. I find it easier to do more complex things this way.
