Control arrangement playback from the midi note editor.

Post by Lasseven » Tue Sep 25, 2018 9:22 am

Hey yall,
I recently switched to Ableton from Logic, and I'm trying to figure out a feature that I used to find handy in Logic. I was wondering, how to control playback in arrangement view with the play head in the midi note editor? I know that I can select a place in the scrub area in the midi note editor to play back the track from there once, but I want to permanently move the play head (from within the midi note editor), so I don't have to press the scrub area every time I want to play the music from that point. It's a little tedious to have to go to the track display and find the exact spot, I want playback to happen from, and place the play head there, when I'm editing midi in the midi note editor. I hope it makes sense.
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply - but I'm not sure how that should help? I know how to edit midi. What I'm trying to figure out is how to control the place from where playback starts with the play head in the midi note editor. So that when I'm editing midi, I can quickly change the playback position by positioning the play head in the midi note editor instead of going to up to the arrangement window/track display. Thanks!
