Jagged breakpoint envelopes when recording automation

Post by Neon Breath » Thu Jan 31, 2019 2:56 am

Hi folks!

I can't find a way to have smooth curvy breakpoint envelopes when recording automation of a parameter, the curves recorded are always very square and jagged.

How can I record automation while keeping smooth envelopes? (Live 10.0.6 - OS X)

Thanks guys!

Hi, you can smooth the curves so there are not linear, by holding opt and hovering the mouse over the area

Thanks wearemindflux! Will give that a try.

Any way to record automation and have the breakpoint envelopes smooth right away and not automatically square/linear? Or I have to smooth them out afterward each times I automate something?

Ok update, if anyone cares : I’ve been in touch with Ableton support directly and this is a normal behavior, when recording automation the breakpoint envelopes get recorded with jagged square curves, there’s no way to fix that or record them in a smooth way. I find this quite fascinating to tell you the truth that we have Live 10, we’re in 2019 and still there’s no way to have smooth automation envelopes! But the tech support noted the issue and said it would be a really good idea to fix that and have smooth breakpoints for automation. Now let’s wait and see…
