Create Fade menu option is disabled

Hello, I'm currently trying to add a fade to an audio clip in arrangement view, but when I select the clip and right click, the "Create Fade" menu option is disabled. If I switch off automation mode and then hover over the end of the audio clip, I get the Fade Handles and can create a fade that way, but I'm trying to follow a tutorial (Sonic Academy's "Minimal Techno with Mac Vaughn") and in it he has the Automation Mode enabled and is able to select "Fades" from a drop down under the track name and get the Fade Handles that way. This does not work for me, and as I said, right clicking and selecting "Create Fades" is not working since the menu option is disabled.

I've seen at least one old forum post suggesting that this is intermittent buggy behaviour that only happens on some audio clips.

This is an audio clip which has been frozen, flattened, chopped and reversed to within an inch of its life!

Thoughts, anyone?

It not "automation mode" in that tutorial, Live 9 doesn't have automation mode.

Live 10 has automation mode and you have to leave it to tweak the fades.

It is not reasonable to call a "buggy behaviour" what is merely a difference between versions.

Thanks for the clarification. I wasn't aware that the tutorial was made using Live 9.

I hope I didn't seem unreasonable, but I would point out that it was in the other post that the suggestion of "buggy behaviour" was made.
