APC Key 25 - Custom mapping WITH LEDs?

Does anyone know if the LED's on Akai's APC Key 25 can be made to light up when it is not used with the midi control script?

If not, how involved is it to edit the standard script? (I believe it's written in Python which I have no experience with).

Has anyone tried using remotify to create custom scripts? Do they offer control of LED functions?

...and you didn't even have to disable the script either. All you had to do was set it up to receive midi input and then actually sent the right midi data to it.

How can I change how the buttons are mapped without disabling the script, since Akai does not offer user modes with their products?
Can you elaborate on what you mean by "send the right midi data to it"?
