Questions about Keyfollow

Post by Pitchthrill » Fri Dec 13, 2019 4:42 pm

Hi!

I have a little question about the keyfollow device, which i really like. But in the last days a question has come up as i wanted to make a Bell EQ follow the keyboard to get rid of certain loud frequencies that shift along with the played note of a synth sound. My problem with keyfollow is that there is no offset apperently. When i map the keyboard to cutoff of EQ8 it is "fixed" to certain frequencies.
An Example of what i want to do:
I have a synth sound playing an A. I want to take out 220 Hz and 440 Hz for that note. If the played note moves up, the EQ is supposed to follow. Lets say I play a note one octave above, the cutoff frequncies should move to 440 and 880 Hz.

Is this easily done already? Did i overlook something? I just wanted to make sure before i start programming something myself.

Thx in advance and sorry if this qustion is answered already. I wasn't able to find what i need.

I actually just opened Keyfollow and added that offset control. It was very simple. But i still have the feeling that this wasn't really necessary.

You can add a suggestion for that in Centercode.

Also, you can just share that edited device in maxforlive.com. Many devices there are fixed or modified versions of other devices.

Or share the instructions.

By coincidence, Cycling74 uploaded yesterday a video about "Max for Live Best Practices" on YT:

I realized that my modification does not what i intended. I decided to programm another device doing that. And i'll try to keep the best practices in mind ;) Thanks for pointing that out!
