Automation in arrangement view affects session view playback?

Post by Digital Larry » Mon Jan 27, 2020 6:46 am

I printed some tracks from session to arrangement view and then put a volume fade on the master bus at the end of the arrangement (using the mouse). Now when I go back to session view and play my scene, the automation plays back and fades everything after a minute or however long the arrangement is. This strikes me as "not right". Is there a way to get it to ignore the arrangement automation in session mode?

No reply, so I am wondering:

a) I didn't describe it well, nobody knows what I'm talking about
b) The answer is obvious, I should just RTFM (I did, but maybe I didn't understand it)
c) Nobody else has this problem
d) Something else?

Thanks,

DL

I may be wrong but here are some suggestions based on what I know (which is beginner level stuff at this point) - hey we all have to start somewhere right?

1. automation for the master track is only possible in the arrangement view... this is a big assumption, to be confirmed.

2. If number 1 is actually true, and you have actually set up automation on the master track in the arrangement view, then playing clips in the session view will in fact honor and play your automation over on top of your clips in session view. This does seem odd in fact. Not sure if this is the expected behavior :?:

3. Now the only way I know to get around this currently that I have found is to change any setting on the master track which you've set up automation for. In my case just toggling on/off all my audio effect racks does the trick. This in turn should turn the "re-enable automation" button on which will disable your automation. not ideal but I would love to know what I don't know so please do share your thoughts.

:) :) :D

I have just googled this question and saw this thread. I have the exact same question and I don't know how to solve it. Of course I can manually disable all the automation in session view but I'm sure it exists some other way to do it.
