Pre-Listen volume control

I'm using the same device for prelisten and live (MOTU 2408), but the prelisten is massively loud compared to other apps and the default values in Live Tracks. The master volume in Live doesn't affect it. I can lower everything at the mixer after the fact and adjust the master to compensate Is there a computer-based way to lower/set prelisten volume that I'm missing?

the prelisten volume knob is right by the master fader in the session view. it has a little headphone symbol.
