Midi Clip

Post by woodwolf » Sun Mar 22, 2020 3:36 am

Hi all. Thought I had this taken care of but would really appreciate your help.

I created a midi clip in step mode. I used midi map to assign a key range of notes on the keyboard to play the midi clip. My hope was it would play the original notes entered into the step sequence, no mater which key I pressed in that range, but it is instead transposing the notes based on the key I press. It does play the correct pattern. I set the launch mode to gate because I want it to quit when I release the key like an arpeggiator would.

This was an attempted work around for the arpeggiator that I was using in omnisphere always played the arp in the key signituture based on the notes I played on the keyboard.

I really just want it to play the notes I want it to play no mater which key I press on the keyboard

Does anyone know if I can change that behavior?

I have thought of doing it with an audio track but then I will lose the ability to control synth parameters live.

I can do this with ease on my yamaha modx. I record a midi file, convert it to an arp that plays the original notes the midi file was recorded in no matter which key I play on the keyboard. Maybe there is a similar method with Abelton?

I have only used this program and a DAW for that matter for about a week and pulling my hair out on this task. Primarily using this for live performance.

Equipment: Yamaha modx, Keylab 49 km 2, laptop quad core i7.

Thank you, would be grateful for any suggestions.
