(MacOS, Ableton 10):
- When you press ALT-SPACE, play back will start from the "Arrangement Insert Marker" (downward facing blue triangle) if you don't have a range selected, or the "Arrangement Selection Start" (lighter blue, left facing triangle) if you have a selection. If you have the loop switch activated (coloured orange), it will remain activated.
- If you click on the loop selection bar, then theArrangement Selection (the light blue left and right arrows) will equal the loop start and end points.
- Now, here's the really weird part. If the arrangement selection is the same as the loop bar, and you have the loop activated, when you click ALT-SPACE, the loop switch is deactivated (goes grey) and the playback does not loop (!). You can switch the loop back on with CMD-L, but as soon as you do that it stops playing (very strange), so there's no way to use ALT-SPACE to start playback from the start of a loop and keep the loop going.
Why is this? It's really strange. I do not want to switch off the loop when starting playback from the start of the loop! Is this a bug? I can't imagine why anyone would want this behaviour.
Don't switch off loop when starting playback with ALT-SPACE
