Composing to picture with Live's video window

Please guys... fix the video engine. It shouldn't have to be so taxing on Live. Look at the latest ProTools release. Big video engine improvement. I believe it uses the OS quicktime engine instead of an internal video playback engine (like Live does). I've been scoring a new series, entirely in Live. Works great, but the video implementation is so painful sometimes. Like most composers (who do scoring), I keep my video window on a separate tv monitor over HDMI. The video is constantly freezing on a frame, or displaying in black or red with no picture. Sometimes hiding and re-showing the video window will get it to play again. Usually not though. Sometimes disabling (muting) the video clip (not the track button, but actually hitting zero while selecting the video clip on the track) will reset it. Most of the time it just crashes Live. All of these issues are much more common if the video is in full screen mode. Either double clicking on the video, or using the green maximize button (I'm on OS X High Sierra). The biggest problem though, is that any time you leave Live for another program and switch back, the video 99% of the time will be frozen. It's also a shame that the entire video window vanishes when you leave Live. Most composers I know, are always using multiple programs, and usually need to continue to see the video. I know that film/tv scoring isn't Live's main focus, but would love to see them update things in the next release. Give me a call Ableton. I'd be happy to give you a very thorough explanation of all these video quirks.

thanx!
