Get output midi channel of current track

Is it possible to determine the output midi channel and perhaps the interface of the current midi track? I need to write some sysex output and in the sysex message the midi channel needs to exist. It's not clear if this is possible short of exposing a number box to set it but preferred is to have it use that on the channel.
