MIDI Monitor "In" plus other Tracks?

Post by blof_eld » Sun May 24, 2020 2:56 pm

When in Session Mode, and the MIDI Monitor mode is set to "In", is there a way to get a track to play clips that are on that track?

I have a drumkit on one track, and I want to have other MIDI tracks sending to it, but I want to be able to play that track with the Push at the same time, and record to the clip slot.

This is so I can have, eg a kick pattern playing and record different hihat patterns separately. Then I can mix different kick patterns with different hihat patterns by triggering those separate clips which both send to the same drumkit.

The only way I can see to do it is either if the track has Record Arm active, or if I send midi directly from the other tracks to the instrument on that track, rather than the drumkit "Track In". But if record arm is active, then I can't play the Push on other tracks (eg a Synth) without triggering that drumkit, and if I send midi directly from the other tracks to the drumkit rather than "Track In", then the lights on the Push don't show green when pads are being triggered from other tracks.

Is there a way to do it so I don't have to have Record Arm active, and also have the pads show when they are being triggered from different tracks?
