iPod DJ
I knew it was just a matter of time. Today at Summer NAMM Numark introduced the iDJ.

Wow, I can't wait to get my hands on one of these, thanks for posting the image!
I was going to upgrade to Live 5, but this iDJ just blows Live right out of the water.
I guess it was only a matter of time before THE LiveKILLER arrived. I knew it would be linked in some way to the iPod. These beautiful cool white devices are the only way forward. So much innovation is inspired by their users.
Imagine having four iPods to hotswap onto the console as you mix! iPod's amazing navigation system is going to be the new natural choice for pro DJs worldwide. With the new photo iPods you can also browse album sleeves or inspirational DJ images ON THE CONSOLE AS YOU MIX! (Hello, Ableton. you can't do that in Live) Imagine having a Tiesto image on one iPod and a Sasha one on the other. You could rock up a mix between them that would bring the house down.
Abe's should look at some way at getting involved in this new iDJ revolution. Perhaps give Numark or Apple a call and see if they can contribute. Though I am sure the Garage Band developers are already on the case.
Those who first get comfortable and skilled with this new groundbreaking technology will lead the way. I'm ordering mine today. A full DJ kit that can fit in a briefcase. Awesome.
With the portable mini PA systems now available for iPod, I can now basically play a set ANYWHERE. Just open up my briefcase and mix. Imagine going to off the wall places like your local supermarket; setting up your rig ontop of some Heinz beans cans, or while waiting at the dentists or on the Train to work in the morning - it will be unreal. The possibilities for spontaneous DJ sets are endless.
I hope I can get a pair of supersize cans in iPod-white to wear as I mix, just so everyone knows I am a mac user. Will look cool if I wear black baggy corduroy trousers, a beige polo neck and sandals.
Rock on!

last I heard there was no pitch control...?
As to Live Killers for DJ's I wonder if NI will ever wake up and combine the modular contruction concept of Reaktor with Traktor DJ...?
Build your own bespoke DJ studio, combined with a mawser controller...?
Think Numark should look into SD cards instead... Why do you need 2 ipods, seems a bit silly considering the technology around today...?

There is only one thing cooler than owning an iPod ... and that is owning 2 iPods.DJSLEEPLESS wrote:the thing i don't understand about this (if its even real) is why the hell have they got 2 ipods. an ipod is just a hard disk surly 1 would do??? apple probably gave numark the go ahead on the basis they create a 2 ipod type of machine so it would double their sales.
It just says "succcess".
Like driving a BMW, wearing Gucci or being Sasha.
Yes, no pitch control is a pretty glaring omission one would think.2kilo wrote:last I heard there was no pitch control...?
I showed the photograph to my wife, as soon as I said "honey, look at this" she just busted out laughing at it..... I didn't even have time to explain that it apparently has no way to control pitch. She immediately found it ridiculous.
To tell the truth $399 is cheaper than I thought that thing would cost But for the life of me I can not understand why Numark even bothered to make this thing? Maybe it is extremely cheap to produce and they figure if a few people buy it they will break even before it fades away. Then in about 10 years it will pop up again on VH-1's "I love the 2005'" and everyone will be like "oh yeah - I remember that thing, didn't even have pitch control...."
Anywayz - there is more info at the link below. No mention of pitch control.

1 Ipod can't play 2 songs at once for mixing.DJSLEEPLESS wrote:the thing i don't understand about this (if its even real) is why the hell have they got 2 ipods. an ipod is just a hard disk surly 1 would do??? apple probably gave numark the go ahead on the basis they create a 2 ipod type of machine so it would double their sales.
