It would be great to have a more accurate search function. For example, you can't search for files with a Sharp in the name without getting a heap of files without that symbol in the file name as well.
From what I can tell the sharp/hash matches any digit in the file name. So a search for a# finds a huge number of matches most of which are not in A Sharp.
Just being able to use quotes to indicate an exact match would make finding samples in a particular key a lot easier. It actually discourages me from using sharp keys because hunting through hundreds of files that have the wrong key is a pain in the arse.

Re: Better Search
Agreed! I've started to rely on a plugin called COSMOS as it has much better functionality. But a decent built-in search function would be a huge help. Once your sample libraries start to accumulate it's easy for things to end up getting buried/lost, no matter how well organised you are. The ability to use wildcards at a bare minimum, but ideally the ability to choose between basic/wildcards/Regular Expressions would be superb. As it stands, when I really need to get complicated, I use a free file browser called "Altap Salamander" that's got advanced search and multi-file renaming features built-in.

+1
I'd love to tell the browser to search only in my plugins folder by using a prefix (or perhaps a shortcut other than Cmd+F), so that I don't have to take my hands off of the keyboard and manually click on the plugins folder. Something akin to how Pro Tools has a search for plugin feature.
I want to be able to think of the plugin and summon it immediately without clicking on folders.

Re: Better Search
I'd just like it be able to search all categories w/o first searching a category (the all results doesn't show up until the first search). Even cmd-clicking a category to ensure none are selected when searching results in favorites getting selected and all results having to be clicked afterwards to see full list, and that shows up at the end of the category list so is below the fold and non-obvious to new users. Some minor tweaks would improve this situation immensely IMO:
- move the "all results" category to the start of the list
- let that be the default used when nothing is selected
- don't hide it when no search string is present and clicking another category, perhaps even rename it to "all categories"
