No presets

Post by Scatmunch » Sat Jul 23, 2005 12:31 pm

Just got the Live upgrade from 4 to 5 and it appears that I have no factory presests!

All the divices seem to be there but when I click on an arrow to show the presests of a device... nothin'. The arrow points down but no presets show. Bugger.
Don't seem to have any clips, sets or waveforms in the library browser.

The Live folder on my hard drive only contained the application icon and a 'docs' folder with a single user manual. Is this right? Should there be a factory preset folder that I'm somehow missing?

Anyone help me out?

Cheers.

Found them. You can access all presets through the library.

Yes, and they also copied my user presets from Live 4.1.1 into the library!

there's some threads on this in the feature wishlist forum. I for one think the new presets-in-browser-only thing in 5 sucks big time for live use--it is SO intuitive to have the preset associated with the effect, so that you can simply look at the effect and see what preset you're on, and you can simply click the box and choose a new one with one click-and-release. Now in 5, you have to open the browser, possibly make it bigger to see all the folders within folders, scroll around to actuall find the effect/vst you wish to change the preset on, then find the actual preset, then drag in over. geez--c'mon this is not useful live AT ALL. Please join our cause in the feature wishlist forum--I know we won't get the scrubbing changes in 5 fixed, but I think this preset issue has enough steam that its possible they might fix it in a later release of 5--everyone who performs with Live is going WTF happened to my preset boxes with my effects?!?!?

I tried dowloading and re-installing Live 5 again but still if doesn't show any new presets. If I go up one level in the library browser's hierarchy it shows my Live 4 folder which contains a user preset folder contianing my own presets and some of the 'Covert Opertater' presets for the Auto Filter, Chord, Grain Delay, Operator and Scale but NO FACTORY PRESETS!

Surely there's some new factory presets?!

This is doing my brain in now.

'elp!!

*bump* this thread.

Still having no luck getting ANY presets to show in the browser window.

Haven't got any 'Lessions' either. Just says 'no lessons found' in that window.

this is bugging me. big time.

Any ideas, please?

All I know is Live should install some different "packages" when installed. You can see what packages are installed in the preferences/products page. Then, I'm not really sure how you can install packages that were not automatically installed.
Alex has answered on that on another thread yesterday or day before. Here it is:
