Multiple issues recording digital piano

Post by Lemonpie77 » Fri Aug 28, 2020 3:00 pm

I'm a complete novice with Ableton so please be kind.

I have a Kawai KDP90 digital piano, Ableton Live 10 Lite, A Behringer Euphoria UM2 Audio Interface and a OTraki USB (a type) Midi Cable. I have plugged the in part of the Midi cable to the out port on my digital piano and the out to the in. I have plugged the USB into my laptop. I open Ableton and press record on the new track but I cannot hear anything when I play back. What could I be doing wrong please?

I have as yet, also not been able to sort out the audio rendering issues in You Tube once I have Ableton loaded and the Asio set-up enabled.

Please help! I am losing the will to carry on :?

If you are just starting off, I would eliminate all the extra hardware to begin with because it is adding complexity and additional possible points of failure. Start off with just getting Ableton to make a midi sound (apologies if you have done this already, you didn't say). In Arrangement View, add a Midi Track. On the left, drill down and double-click an instrument, such as Categories -> Instrument -> Analog -> Piano & Keys -> Accordion. Highlight a few bars on the track, right-click -> Add Midi Clip. Press 'B' to enter edit mode and click on the Piano Roll to create some notes. Press Play, do you hear anything?
