transpose question

transpose question

This might sound really dumb but I cant figure out how many semitones I need to transpose a Midi C note to G? Is it 7?

That is correct, 7. You can count them on the piano roll. Mouse-over the key labelled C1, and then count all the keys including the black ones going upward until it says G1.
