Bi-Polar Macros

Post by ze2be » Tue Nov 10, 2020 7:33 pm

Macro response curves and macro display modes (switch, bipolar)

Bi-polarity would be super handy and usefull on so many levels! For example I would need half the macro count on my curent channel strip rack, and it would make almost every knob more flexible at the same time.

Like a 1 macro dj filter (sweep from low pass to high pass) vs separate lp macro and hp macro, or compressor and limiter on the same macro; one to the left, the other to the right.

Well we got more macros with Live 11 which is nice, but they are just as basic as before.

More macros does not help with a limited hardware knob count.

Most controllers have 8 rotary knobs, and bipolarity would douple the functions count of those 8.

Macro curves/envelopes even more so. All together this would be super handy for live performances.

Big wish for Live 12! :)

You can already do bipolar macro knobs, and have been able to since they were first added in Live. I’ve made a ton of DJ oriented racks that use this, most of which are now part of the stock Ableton library in the DJ and performance section.
