AAC File format not loading into project

Post by roonleng » Tue Jan 12, 2021 12:26 am

It's my understanding that .aac is a supported file format with Ableton. However, that does not seem to be the case today. I can't drag an AAC file into Ableton. I got it from a Youtube video-to-audio converter site called Ontiva. I did this becase AAC supposedly sounds better than mp3, which is how I would usually get sound from youtube.

In section 5.2 of the reference manual, it describes that there are 4 characteristics that determine if a file is openable by Live; the codec, the resolution, the number of channels, and 'Other' things like DRM-protection.

Does anyone know how I can view these aspects of the file? Is the website/method I used dodgy? Any help appreciated :)
