relax dude,
all live does is creating a temporary .wav, wich gets deleted eventually.
Just keep some 10 GB free somewhere for decoding cache.
for simple mp3 playback, like iTunes or WinAmp, there is no decoding needed. But if you want to stretch, warp, chop and mess up your mp3 samples, they need to be decoded into .wav

Thanks amigo, so is no way to work whit out the decoding folder?? in other words Live 5 sucks!!! couse is going to take more time and more CPU in decoding................ thanks for the information dude.SimonPHC wrote:relax dude,

This is a real smart implementation a mp3 into the Live Environment.
THere is no other way. Mp3 always needs to be decoded. It is a compression method for keeping music files small by deleting "redundant" information.
Ableton did a damn good job at making it possible to use mp3 ...
Decoding time is needed because you might 'do' stuff to the samples, that's why real-time wil never work (or even doesn't exsist, cause there's allways a buffer involved).
CPU consomation happens while decoding. Once decoded, a file stays decoded untill you close live. I have a dj set with say 40 mp3's in it. it takes about 10 minutes to decode them all and as there are wavs and midi channels as well, I can play for hours ... I'll wait ten minutes ...
