Does the icon and splash screen for Live 11 Standard really have to be so ugly!?
Does the icon and splash screen for Live 11 Standard really have to be so ugly!?
i get it, we're not full paying customers. we deserve to be reminded we are not full paying customers every time we start live.
but does it have to be the MSPAINT CYAN BLUE every time?
could we please choose a colour in the settings? i don't mind if it still say "Standard" to remind me of my non-full-fee-paying status every time. but do we have to have a viscerally repulsive reminder as well?
and im not paying double to change it to 'black' either?
anyone handy with a hex editor?

You shouldn't take things personnaly, planet earth is a nothing in the universe.
But you can easily change any application icon my copy-pasting a new one...

Remember the days when we could still edit the splash screen and everyone had absurd startup screens.
Ah, those were the days.
I had this as my splash for a couple of years, because I'm classy

complaints about an application certainly are first world when it’s about the colour of the loading splash... I guess gotta complain about something original these days.
Workaround, just close eyes for 10 seconds on launch and problem solved.

For many years the color of the alpha and beta versions of Live was bright pink and it used to drive me nuts too.

And somehow you were able to overcome this terrible situation and carry on and none of us knew the pain you were feeling. Damn, now I feel bad, you should have told us the moment it felt to be a problem, we could have all worked through that difficult time together and really helped those that have similar feelings for that 10 second duration.
Just FYI to the OP, the same colour is for Suite as Standard so it has nothing to do with you being a cheapskate... Well I think it is as i'm colourblind (seriously) and don't see Red in the same way others do so everything is kind of fu#@ed in terms of colour for me like the time I bought a launchpad and could not see the difference between a playing clip and a non playing clip on the Red/Green/Amber LEDs of the time so I had to track down a specialised script designed for people like me to use it, but i'll cry you a river over that another time if you ever want to know what frustration with colours of the world is really like.

switch to Reason. it’s got a nice splash page, and a whole bunch of better things to complain about.
Re: Does the icon and splash screen for Live 11 Standard really have to be so ugly!?
I complained a lot on the beta forum about it actually, you guys were just the lucky ones
Anyway, just saying I can understand where the OP is coming from a little bit. I'm very picky about the colors I associate with my music making, you won't find any reds, browns, or yellows anywhere in my DAW or studio.
Then again, it's not like Ableton is going to change it either.

Hey, be picky and pedantic about what colours are what but it's like complaining about how crap a book is because of the style of the cover... you know, judging a book by the cover which you never actually se once the book is open.
It's really a bit of a non-issue, just something you "don't like" so it is a personal thing that kind of affects an individual... Where in my case for instance and anyone with a colour blind affliction, I kind of get annoyed when people feel they need to complain about a certain colour because it doesn't match with their decor when I have issues with usability because the wavelength of red is not detected by my eyes the same as other colours so Blue and Purple and Pink can all be issues when used for functions and no one understands how difficult this can sometimes be. That is more a genuine complaint but I have had a lifetime to learn how to deal with this kind of problem and it makes some things harder but I just deal with it because I know it is not an issue for everyone.
I feel this is what is wrong with the world, everyone feels entitled to their opinion but also feels that expressing it publicly should garner some action for their specific cause because it is a mild annoyance to them, especially something like a loading screen... just do not get that complaint out of all things worth complaining about. All noise that just adds to the mess, but this is already far more than I cared to dive into the rabbit hole.
What is ugly to one is beautiful to another and adding a switch or setting for every little thing isn't what most people want... If it is that annoying, switch to another DAW as suggested that has a better loading splash screen (ugh how lame does that sound as an argument).

i'm picky about colours too bro. would be super easy for ableton to just add in a splash colour picker hack on a text file you add in like the one for enabling the plugin view.Tarekith wrote: ↑Sun Feb 28, 2021 12:19 amI complained a lot on the beta forum about it actually, you guys were just the lucky ones

i appreciate that for some people they have other shit to worry about whether their music making tools make them feel good to look at or not. being an aesthete is a something you are taught -- maybe they went to art school, or grew up around other visually minded people -- but once go there you can't go back. personally i studied the bauhaus methodology. i love art, architecture, as well as music so colour is very important to me.
im just really surprised the crew at ableton picked such a dud colour for their product.. it's also surprising to me that the colour picker for tracks in ableton is so mediocre!?? it wouldn't be too hard for them to make the colours available be selectable from one of the many PANTONE+ colour books? live would look 100x nicer and it would be super easy to implement.
anyway, appreciate your vote of support. cheers

Come on dudes,
The Hello Kitty Pink 10 beta splash changed into a decent 11 beta syringa style.
Thank you for that was my first impression.
Associate my music with it?
Yes, my 10 beta works sound kinda pink...
Luckily less Girly Pink than Floyd Pink.

What I was saying is that you might be caring about yourself just a little bit too much... nobody at ableton choose this color to piss you off or send you a subliminal reminder of how unperfect you are because you're not in the Suite heros' team.woobei wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 2:48 amplanet earth is nothing? what? um, no, it's not. i'm not a nihilist and i do care about things, especially aesthetic things.

And yeah, you're not much, neither I. We're reaaallly tiny.
And I'm colourblind too, btw
