Hi,
I have a Motu Midi Express 128 with a couple of external synths and a tr8 hooked up to it and into Live via its usb. Everything works fine and how it should, but some days when I fire up Live, I don't get any midi signal sent to the external gear even though nothing has changed or been unplugged/plugged in.
When Live opens up, it still shows the interface as active within preferences and all external instruments are also showing the interface active (if Live is not seeing it, then all options grey out). I can even see midi incoming data from the external gear through to Live on the indicator so Live is definitely seeing the Motu, and Windows is also showing it as connected and working. The only way to get it working again is to unplug the usb of the Motu and plug it back in again, which doesn't always work first time, then it starts sending midi again.
Does anybody else experience this? Is it a bug in Live? Or is the Motu failing? I want to say it's not the Motu as Live still sees it fine when its not working correctly. Just cannot seem to pinpoint the problem.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated before I buy a new interface to find out it wasn't that.
Cheers
Midi interface not always working in Live
Re: Midi interface not always working in Live
Just curious if you ever got this resolved. I'm also having issues with mine that are similar, but not exactly the same.
Sometimes when I turn on Ableton the MOTU ports don't show up in the input/output midi routing in the settings (though they were there the night before when I saved my project and put the system to sleep).
Hoping that you've found a solution...
Thanks!
Edit for my future self and anyone else who runs into this problem:
I RESTARTED rather than put to sleep my computer and the problem resolved itself. Yes, even on Mac .
Here are my system specs at this time:
2015 MBP with 2.5GHz i7
Mac OS 11.6 (Big Sur)
UAD Apollo x6 + Twin over Thunderbolt 2 (official Mac adapters and cables)
Motu is plugged in via USB using a POWERED Thunderbolt dock (https://www.owcdigital.com/products/thu ... ck-14-port) using official Apple TB2 cable and TB3-2 adapter.
