[Don't shoot me, I am a newbie].
So... I have recorded a mono track "Ext. in, Input channel 1, Auto, Output to Master" no effect. Master outputs to 1/2.
The recording was of a mono synth through a focusrite inst input. I am monitoring the output using a headphone on the focusrite, and monitoring the playback from ableton through the same headphone [with the same level, etc].
I am not happy with the perceived output volume (very low with respect to the level when recording). By chance, I changed the pan control on the Ableton's track, and voilà. When the pan button is slightly off the center, whether left or right, it seems that I get "twice" the sound. When fully centered, not good to me.
So I am wondering :
- I am assuming this is the intended behaviour ?
- How however can I change that or what should I do at recording time ?

Help needed! Mono track, panning, volume.
Got it! Re: Help needed! Mono track, panning, volume.
The problem is... with the headphone. It is a Marshall Major III Black - very good quality for a low price, BUT, it has a 4 pole audio mini jack and comes with an adapter. I lost the adapter (probably somewhere with the rest of them), and used a generic one instead. Hence a strange behaviour.
