VSTs you can't live without.

Post by SethAbare » Wed Jul 27, 2005 5:32 pm

Maybe this will inspire people to buy some of these fine products, or download demos to see what they are all about.
Please post; VST Name - Software producer - and a short blurb on why its a must to your software studio.

1. Korg Legacy cell - Korg - Something about this just sounds electric, I am very fond of the velocity customization, really something that not all vsts have.

2. Atmosphere - Spectrasonics - Very clean and well put together library of sounds, slightly lacking on features but really kicks ass with L5s new Arpeggiator.

3. CS80 - Arturia - Sort of the backbone in my aresenal, a real solid sound with a billion configurable features, including one of the filter/eq systems I have ever used.

4. Lounge lizard - Applied Acoustics - Just the best sounding electric piano for someone who can't afford the top of the line stuff. Honestly I think it sounds better than a lot of more expensive pianos.

Seriously!

I really think there's just a few I couldn't find an alternate for.

I'd say my biggest 'plug-in' that I would miss most would be Reason 3.

Vintage Warmer

I could really get away with just that...

yea, i think Live 5 and its included effects give me alot to work with, especially if you also have Operator. Add Hydratone and a really good limiter, and lock me in a room for a year ..... please.

Sorry for the OT. Maybe I 'could' live without a few from the above short list - but I wouldn't want to

Twas more meant as a heads up for those people out there, esp the warez junkies, who think that commercial plugs are the be all and end all. As well as that I suppose there's a lot of new users out there who's first purchase may have been 5 and I just wanted to give a heads up to some extra toys.

Filterscape- Uh-He - Filter, EQ, synth plugin, just a great set of tools! Very unique sounding filter as well.

Reactor 5-Native Instruments - It's a CPU killer, but very much worth it, very playable collection of tools, and customizable as well.

Absynth 3- Native Instruments - nothing sounds quite like it.

Zebra- Uh-He - fits into the mix like the others do not, and from what I've heard of Zebra 2! 8O

PSP Vintage Warmer- PSP- Basically it lets a person like myself achieve really good sounding mixes, can't ask for more than that.

Buffer Override - Destroy FX- I simply love their shit, this one especially. Image

Pluggo- Cycling 74- This one kept me using macs before they released a windows version, I'm a big fan of granular stuff, and odd ideas on plugins, these guys do that well.
