is a MIdi Hub also a Interface?
is a MIdi Hub also a Interface?
If I want to connect multiple Drum Machines Synths etc Via a real midi cable is it better to get a audio interface with multiple Midi ports ? my current Scarlett as none. If i buy a midi hub are they also interfaces with my computer or just a piece of hardware for all of them to plug into to keep them in sync . Or would it be better just to have a new interface with one midi port have computer as the master , then chain the drum machines/Synths together? I am using a older Imac with Sierra as I am using the first S4 Mk1 , and syncing Ableton via Link and want to add maybe a couple drum machines. USB to midi cable is garbage and doesn't keep time well. Also is a fire wire interface a better and faster choice ?
Re: is a MIdi Hub also a Interface?
I prefer that every task has it's own tool. I have a Scarlet 18i20 3rd generation for audio en an ESI M4ex for the MIDI. The ESI has 8 ports which can be used as either input as output. A larger version excists; the ESI M8ex with double the ports.
I never noticed that the port on my Scarlet is tighter than the MIDI form the ESI, so should not be a problem!
