session view: live Looping Count in

Post by btiemann63 » Fri Jan 07, 2022 7:14 am

So basically I want Live and push to operate as a looper of some sorts, but I can't seem to get a count in.

I want to be able to record my drum machine on loop in session mode, click a new track clip and have a count in so I can play a synth part and so on and so on. I don't want any stopping of sound, which I think might be my hang up(It's mostly for live performance purposes).

I can't seem to get the count in on the second clip. The preliminary loop clip has a count in but no other clip has it after that.

is there some sort of way I can get this to work?

What I do is have the metronome going in my in-ear-monitors basically the whole
set. Have the global launch quantization set to 1 bar, and launch a blank clip during the time you’d want your count in. The clip will begin recording on the 1st downbeat of the next bar. You never have to stop the transport. I guess you could experiment with other launch settings as well. Hope that made sense. Cheers and happy looping!
