Slice audio possible to clice into sampler?

Post by yentzee » Mon Jul 18, 2022 2:45 pm

Hi,
is there any way to slice audio into sampler instead of simpler and have the slices spread over the keys?

If your samples is warped where you need your "slices" then search for the "convert to Simpler/Sampler" feature. You might need to first make it default to using Sampler.

If you right click on an audio file you can select 'Slice to New MIDI track'. In the dialog that appears you can select the number of slices as well as a slicing preset. They all have some kind of effect but luckily you can add your own.
If you just want a plain simple Sampler with all its default settings or maybe your own settings, create a Sampler to with 1 sample and save this as a preset in User Library\Defaults\Slicing (which you can access from within Live).

If you want, you can also create a preset that slices to a Drum Rack with a Sampler on each pad. To do this, create an empty Drum Rack, add a Sampler to pad 1 and save it in the folder I mentioned above. You can of course first tweak all settings the way you want them after slicing. You can even add MIDI and Audio effects to the pad.
