Viewing properties of presets
I'm currently using the Standard version of Ableton. While attempting to compose I have repeatedly run into issues where certain presets that I want to use (for example, "Basic Fine Line Bass.adg") to build chords are apparently locked to monophonic states and there's no obvious way to determine that's the case, short of dropping it onto a track and trying to play multiple notes at once. Is there some quick and easy way to determine whether or not a given preset sound/instrument is mono or poly -and, ideally, change that setting- that I've just missed? Or even just basic documentation for the presets? The trial and error I'm currently dealing with is really frustrating.
Re: Viewing properties of presets
There is no obvious way to determine if a preset is monophonic or polyphonic beforehand, but the category name they're under already gives you a hint.
Sounds under Bass or Lead are likely to be monophonic, while Pad, Strings, Keys, Guitar, Mallet, etc. are almost guaranteed to contain poly presets.

Re: Viewing properties of presets
It is very clearly only playing one note at a time currently. I don't own Operator.
At any rate, I'm willing to accept not being able to alter any of the settings since I don't own the underlying instrument, but it seems really silly and clunky to lock me out so completely that I can't even look at what settings are being used. That's just bad UI design imho, and a more cynical person might argue it's just an underhanded way of trying to push users into spending more money on upgrading just to avoid the inconvenience.

Ngl dude it's pretty wild that you're trying to use "well that's just your opinion, man" to wave away criticism for obscuring basic information like whether or not a given instrument is capable of playing more than one note at a time.
