a few feature requests

Post by op_01 » Sat Oct 29, 2022 10:40 pm

Hello there!

Im pretty new to Live (coming from cakewalk sonar platinum).
Lots of great stuff here but at the same time Im feeling there are quiet a few "standard" features that Sonar and other DAWs has thats missing in Live.
I dont use Session live performance features, only checking mixer faders, 99% of the time Im in Arrangement view.
Here are a few things on top of my head that I would love to see in the coming updates to make life easier in Live and speed up workflow even more:

1 more legible ui (one example: triangle channel faders, gray color on gray background doesnt read well)

2 inspector view = show current selected track and the the track it outputs to

3 mixer that looks like a mixer

4 arrangement marker track = (as a workaround, I use an empty midi track with different empty midi clips with section names, works meh but obviously
doesnt stay on top when I scroll down the view)

5 is it possible to change current shift + tab to something else like one keyboard button? (fingers go wonky everytime I hit shift tab, which I do many times)

6 show vst plugins on the mixer

7 dockable/undockable windows/panels/views : would love to be able to undock the mixer and put it on my secondary screen, also redock the track names to the left side of the screen and browser content pane to the right side.

8 change ABC sends names to actual fx track names named by the user (reverb, delay, bla bla fx)

9 change "redo" shortcut to a universal shortcut, ctrl shift z (current defaul "ctrl y" is a bit odd and far stretch for fingers)

10 I like "s" shortcut to solo a track, BUT "0 numkey" to disable/mute a track is miles away for my left hand, means that I need to let go of my right hand mouse to hit 0 numpad, or hit 0 on the kb, why not have "deactivate/mute" closer to "s" key? like "d" could be for "disable".. would speed up the workflow...

11 show slightly dimmed whole track when a track is deactivated/muted.

12 show dimmed version of deactivated midi/audio clip instead of showing it "empty" with "Clip Deactivated" eg: would be great to still see the audio/midi data on the clip for visual clarity

13 show midi data while recording in Arrangement view : it says "no clip selected" while recording midi
(I believe this is possible only in Session view?) why not have same functionality in Arrangement view?

14 middle mouse button (MMB) to pan around the view instead of ctrl + alt + LMB (1 button instead of 3 ;))
