Triggering external drum module from Drum Rack

Post by laurentius » Thu Nov 17, 2022 6:51 pm

I am recording Midi clips from my Clavia Nord Drum 3 into Ableton which works well so far.
My problem now is how I to create a good work flow using Drum Racks in those midi clips. The reason why I am asking: I want to be able to mute individual notes (meaning pads on my drum module) in those midi clips using Push. So I put external instruments in all corresponding drum rack slots. But when I press "mute" for instance on note C3 the midi clip is still sending data to the drum module on that note. Is there any other way you could recommend?

That's happening because muting a drum pad doesn't mute the midi but the output of the chain.
Aren't you getting your external audio back into the External Instrument? If yes, I'm not sure what's the problem since you shouldn't hear anything.

I don't get the audio back into Ableton - that is the "problem". The thing is that that Nord Drum doesn't have seperate outputs for it's six channels.
My workaround to mute them via drum racks is using the macro controls and mapping them to the Nord Drum's corresponding Midi cc's...
