So I contacted support about a strange thing. A bug.
When you are in arragement view and you select a clip and press record the clip disappears and gives a message, no clip selected. And if you press stop, the clip will be chopped in 2 parts.
So instead of trying it theirselves, I get questions like does this happen using shortcuts.
NO, IT HAPPENS ALWAYS AND IF YOU'D DONE YOUR WORK PROPERLY YOU WOULD HAVE COME UP WITH THE SAME RESULTS.
So, here I am, having Ableton re-installed and installed on another computer, to come up with these results, so they didn't even bother to check it out themselves, making me do a lot of unnessecary work AND leave me with the craziest bug that will make me leave ableton.
And what I don't understand. I CAN'T be the first person to have noticed this. I don't believe that. And it can't be true that this bug ONLY exists on my computers.

Re: Bad Support
no wrong from their side. it seems something is happening on your side that hijacks shortcuts. what you mentioned are shortcut behaviours.
indeed this not normal behaviour and doesn‘t sound like a bug.

Re: Bad Support
Hey Geepstar. I can't reproduce it here, and if the Abes can't reproduce it either then they rely on you to help them diagnose it.
If you'd like people here on the forum to try and help then you'll need to give a bit more detail of your setup. Also, be nice.

Re: Bad Support
This is a case of user error.
You cannot see the piano roll while recording, so that's why it says 'no midi clip selected' in the detail view.
The clip was split because recording stopped somewhere in the middle of the newly added empty midi clip.

Re: Bad Support
I didn't even get it until the post above, but yes, this is simply how Live works and if you expected otherwise, that's user error.
If this is the first time you've seen this happen and you have used Live before, maybe you had the overdub (+) button enabled.
If you get angry and keep shouting about a bug, anyone trying to help, including Ableton support, will likely read too much into your description: you're calling it a bug, so we're all trying to see it as one. So yeah, be nice. You would have gotten help much sooner if you'd simply said "I didn't expect this to happen, is this how it's supposed to work?" Not just because shouting offends people, but because it sends us in the wrong direction: we were all parsing your words looking for "the craziest bug that will make me leave Ableton".
The clip "disappears" (from the clip detail pane) because you are recording over it, so it can no longer be selected. Afterwards, it is chopped in two parts because you have recorded over the first part.
