(OT) sad sad sad

Post by mike holiday » Tue Aug 02, 2005 6:55 pm

Us Senators Ted Stevens and Lisa Murkowski wrote:Stevens pointedly told reporters Monday than any legislation on climate change must go through him as chairman of the Commerce, Science & Transportation Committee. He said he continues to be skeptical that human activity is responsible for the climate changes being observed around the globe, pointing instead to cyclical geophysical forces over which Congress has no power.
Murkowski has said that she doesn't believe scientists have conclusively demonstrated that human activity is the main cause for global warming, and without that proof, mandatory emission standards could unnecessarily harm some segments of the economy. But she told reporters Monday that she wasn't sitting still, and pointed to her support of a provision in the recently passed energy bill that provided incentives to develop technologies to reduce greenhouse gas production.

Learn how to spell senator properly, and you may have a point.

Until then, BUSH ROCKS!

You know, in over 150+ years of heavy industrialism, we've seen exponential increases in both living conditions and technology. The world's population has increased almost 7-fold in the last 200 years.

The facts are that during all of this progress, we've increased the average global temperature by 1degF. And of course, these facts are really up for debate because we haven't really been keeping good statistics for this entire time period.

Mind you, I'm a big advocate of environmental legislation (and mostly playing devil's advocate here ;) ), but what the senator is basically saying is that there's no proof that humans have caused global warming... which really isn't yet. Of course, the irony is that we might not know of this proof until it's too late, but that still doesn't necessarily justify acting without evidence to support it.

Bu we are all going to be dead anyway and future humans will naturally mutate and develop to adapt to a hot acidic climate. We used to be monkeyfish for god's sake.

In the last two decades women in the UK have developed phenomenally big asses in order to fit the large clothes sizes more commonly available in high street stores. Evolution is extremely responsive to a changing environment.

These same high street stores are also selling the 2200 calorie chicken korma TV dinners to mutate the women to the appropriate size for their best selling clothing.

You can't forget the allergy to Gold that many women have. You put even a fraction of an ounce on their 4th finger on the left and they bloat right up.

Back on topic - let's say that you have heard from the majority of nutritionists, doctors and health experts that drinking your own piss is dangerous. There are some others who claim it's not bad at all.

In the last 10 months since you've started drinking your piss your complexion has deteriorated, and you've noticed a change in your voice. Of course there's no reason to stop drinking piss, since it's cheaper to drink piss than apple juice (after all piss is free), and there's no proof that you're not just re-entering puberty again. Considering the high economic cost of apple juice, you should only stop drinking your piss when you get incontestable proof that it's this very piss that's at the root of your problems. By then you should be dead.

In case anybody didn't catch it, the two paragraphs above this one were sarcastic.

Before you get your panties in a bunch about Climate Change, maybe you should review the uses of Executive Order 12986, signed by Clinton, which under the name of Climate Change, which in repayment of National Debt, gave nearly all National Parks over to UN and UNESCO control, absolving International Agencies from Lawsuits for their use of the land.

Before you start spouting about Climate Change, learn what it really means....

Huge Land grabs in the name of Global safety. read the Kyoto treaty, then you'll understand why it hasnt been signed.

around my house you can watch glaciers climb hills
they melt fast

no joke

http://www.alaska.net/~design/scenes/po ... rtage.html

40 miles from my house this thing is disappearing FAST
i mean you can watch it melt away year to year makes all the locals sad to watch it go...especially the ones who have been here 40 years and see exactly how fast it's disappearing as of recently

smoking in the house is BAD
but we can blow whatever the fuck we want in the air

so much for evolution (you know as conscience individuals we can consciously control our own evolution)

p.s. i'll never learn to spell and i don't really care...shit i can hardly talk

but i'll never stop careing

i could type everything in text edit first but ....

Hey I'm there with you, but it seems to me that the other big assholes who took over Iraq were whom? So if it isn't corporations that are running the UK then what?

All in good fun, it's just that the UK is the only other country I can dog on besides my own right now, and not feel like a hypocrite.

About the issues at hand, while it's almost impossible to prove whether or not the temperature has gone up of the planet, it's pretty easy to prove that environmental damage is the main reason the barrier reefs are disappearing, the population of frogs worldwide is going down, and the ozone is developing huge holes.
I think most people would have a different attitude about this if they lived to be 300 years old, but since in the end we don't give a shit about our children, and we only live around 80 odd years, we don't care. :?

agreed sir... yes...
but america rule the world not britain
britain just licks americas ass...
but surely the same problems are everywhere with capitalism...
our country is now going through the same media wind up as yours had after 9/11
what they never mention in the papers is that the amount of deaths by state terrorism far far outweighs anything done by these little rebel groups...
odd then that all you see in the papers is how dangerous the small rebel groups are... weird that one.. or not when you consider who owns the media....

I'm not going to get into politics and all that but to this day, I still don't know how anyone can exactly measure a global temperature increase of 1degF.

We really only have the last 200 years or so worth of proper scientific measurements to base this stuff on. The Earth has been active for billions of years and I'm sure it doesn't always remain at the same temperature range. Like anything in the universe, events would cycle.
