I'm trying to connect my modular system to Ableton via my MOTU M4, a DC-coupled audio interface widely recommended for this purpose. I'm using floating ring cables and I've also tried regular patch cables and insert cables, but all with the same result: the 'Insufficient Control Voltage' error in the CV Instrument. I'm having the same results with an Instruo Ts-L and a Verbos Harmonic Oscillator. When I press Start calibration, there is a pop like a rather lifeless kick drum, and then the error is displayed.
If I place a CV LFO on the track, it creates a tremolo effect which seems like an indicator that something is being sent, just not pitch voltage. I'm also using the correct output as the tremolo effect stops if I switch between them.
I've tried toggling the polarity button on CV Instrument, placing a Utility with DC switched on on the track, increasing the gain via that Utility effect etc. and nothing changes the result.
Has anybody gotten this to work, or can you recommend something I could be doing to at least troubleshoot the issue? My running theory is that it could be yet another issue with MOTU interfaces and M1 Macs. I don't want an ES-8 module for space reasons.
